This is a custom-built display for the WeatherFlow Tempest weather station. You MUST
own a WeatherFlow Tempest or have the ability to obtain the required WeatherFlow api key from a family member or friend. Home WiFi is also needed for wireless operation.
One of the biggest complaints about the WeatherFlow Tempest is there is no dedicated display. This device solves this problem by providing a convenient, well organized summary of all weather data from your Tempest weather station. Weather data is updated every one minute with rapid wind updates as soon as every 3 seconds.
This is a 5" touch screen display based upon the Raspberry Pi 3 and the free, open-source WeatherFlow Pi Console software developed by Peter Davis (no relation).
As you can see from the photos, the Raspberry Pi is mounted to the back of the display giving it that techie, weather-geek feel. This weather console is perfect for the nightstand, desk, countertop, or anywhere else you want the most up-to-date weather conditions at your fingertips.
All Raspberry Pi 3 ports are accessible. You can also run other software from this device as well since the weather display software spends most of its time waiting for data updates. Login using the RealVNC Viewer software as well. This unit ships with SPI, I2C, SSH, and VNC Server enabled.
The screen can be adjusted to 10 different brightness levels by pressing a button on the back of the unit. There also is a brightness control that can be adjusted from the Raspberry Pi desktop.
The display measures about 5" x 3" x 2.5" (at the mounted angle). The mounting angle is not adjustable.
All components were purchased new for the purpose of building this display.You will receive the display unit pictured along with a 5v 3A power supply. Full setup instructions are provide.
After purchase, I can setup the display for you if you would like. You will need to send me some information about your Tempest. Once you receive the display unit, simply use the on-screen keyboard to connect to your home Wi-Fi. You can also connect the display to a wired network if you wish.
